Question
We install 4 GB memory in 915G-M M/B, but it only shows 3.2G, would that be the M/B limitation on max. memory size showing?

Answer
Due to PC architectural requirements such as motherboard resources and OS limitations, desktop platforms using 4GB or above memory may be unable to take full advantage of all memory populated on the system. The available memory may report approximately 3.12 GB or less depends on system configurations.

To take advantage of the system memory 4GB or above installed, the computer must meet the following requirements:
• An x64 (64-bit) version of Windows system.
• The chipset must support at least 8GB of address space.
• The BIOS must support the memory remapping feature.
• The CPU must support the X64 instruction set. The AMD64 CPU and the Intel EM64T CPU support this instruction set.

In addition, the 32-bit versions of Windows will reserve a portion of memory for critical system functions such as chipset, BIOS flash, PCI Express, etc. If you have 4GB installed, Windows will indicate less than 4GB is available.

Question
Could you let me know which BIOS flash utility version I can use for 915G-M?

Answer
Please use AMI flash utility F040709 (included in Driver CD 2.9VI).

Question
915G-M/V1.0 BIOS 1.0b reports wrong total memory size under system information in dual DDR mode. If you have 2GB DDR400 set to dual channel, Windows XP SP1 and SP2 see the total Physical memory as 1,536.00 MB only.

Answer
BIOS 1.0D attached has fixed this memory report error.

Question
Some games hang up when the XD bit of an Intel CPU is enabled. Can you please give me some information about this?

Answer
Some games like "Expendable" will hang up because the game will call 3DNow! instruction from XD protect memory page. Intel has suggested SW venders to use SSE2 instead of 3DNow! to get away of this behavior.

Question
We can’t see Prolink's nVidia NTSC PCI Tuner card "PV-M2TV316PL" under Windows Device Manager on 915G-M. How to fix it?

Answer
Please update the 915G-M BIOS to v1.1E or above version to patch the issue.

Question
Why does system summary table (2nd boot screen) show WD 250G SATA drive as an ATA100 drive?

Answer
The BIOS default setting on 915G-M is Auto/Enhanced mode for SATA item. It will be PIDE mode & the performance is ATA100. Please configure the SATA item to SATA mdoe in BIOS.

Question
Why does my system (in first boot screen and windows property) only recognize 3GB of memory when 4GB (4X1GB) DDR400 memory is installed?

Answer
Regarding this behavior, 512M memory (at least) will be occupied by system if you install 4G RAMs because ICH SB/PCI-E/AGP/PCI card and other onboard devices will map to upper memory. Due to current 32bit x86 PC constructure, it will occupy the memory from 4GB (below) & shows 3.xG if you insert 4G memory.
