The leading motherboard provider will also join hands with Lenovo to innovate server technologies.

Beijing, China (July 13, 2005) --- ECS (Elitegroup Computer System), the global leading motherboard supplier, today announced its debut in overseas server ODM market and its partnership with IT industry leader Lenovo to launch their cooperation in server technologies.

ECS, renowned for its world-class manufacturing capability, strict quality and cost control and a closely-knitted network of global sales channels in the PC industry, will leverage Lenovo's cutting-edge design and R&D capability to deliver the most competitive products in the server market.

To mark their cooperation, both companies' top management attended the press conference, including James Xu, ECS's Vice Chairman of the Board, Mike Li, ECS's General Manager of China Office, and Jun Liang, General Manager of the Server & Storage Business Division of Lenovo.

"ECS has already successfully established itself as one of the world's top two leaders in the market of design and manufacturing of PC motherboard and is particularly specialized in the high-end segment. As the annual growth rate of the global x86 server market reaches 10%, we are poised to provide better services, through our newly-formed alliance with Lenovo, to the system integrators in the emerging markets such as Russia, Vietnam, Brazil and India, and more choices to customers in the U.S. and Europe as well," said Mike Li, General Manager of ECS China Office.

Jun Liang, Lenovo's General Manager of the Server & Storage Business Division said, "Lenovo has had a long-term partnership with ECS over the years and established extensive cooperation in the circles of desktop computers and servers. As one of the most powerful providers of motherboard and server technologies, Lenovo has its own independent intellectual property and R&D ability throughout the manufacturing process—from the basic circuit design to the integration of the framework system. Through the alliance with ECS, Lenovo will establish a united motherboard R&D team to help ECS design and set up a production line for server boards and provide all-rounded management support for the engineering of motherboard and other cards, and also for the quality control and production."

To date, ECS has set up dedicated production lines for server production so as to ensure product quality and performance stability. In addition, technical experts from both sides will carry out studies on server boards and system designs, in the hope to develop advanced technologies and products.
