ECS commits to a healthy environment by implementing RoHS Manufacturing
Taipei, Taiwan, February 14, 2006 – Elitegroup Computer Systems, Inc. (ECS), a leading computer hardware and notebook manufacturer, announces that thirteen of its leading motherboards now fully comply with the European Union's Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS compliant). As a responsible global corporate citizen, ECS is committed to protecting the environment and now has in place the manufacturing production capacity to make RoHS compliant motherboards for several of the most popular platforms.
The RoHS Directive is a European legislation that restricts the use of cadmium, hexavalent chromium, lead, mercury and certain halogenated flame retardants in electronic products, and becomes effective July 1, 2006. With global environmental awareness increasing, ECS strives to meet the strictest regulations and show it is dedicated to protecting the earth. Similar legislation is also coming out in several other countries such as China and the US. Due mainly to the RoHS Directive, ECS has been focusing on meeting RoHS compliance and has taken concrete action in all aspects of its business operations. This announcement represents a significant milestone in ECS's ongoing compliance efforts concerning manufacturing and market support.
Performance, Reliability and RoHS Compliance
A total of thirteen ECS motherboards are now RoHS compliant. All these motherboards offer cutting-edge performance and reliability with the leading chipsets, CPU support and features customers want. ECS RoHS compliant motherboards include several ECS Socket 775 Intel® 945 chipset motherboards as well as the new Intel® 955X-based PF22 with ATI CrossFire Technology support. The new C19-A SLI motherboard with NVIDIA nForce4 for Intel® Pentium 4 is also RoHS compliant. Socket 478 motherboards such as the P4M800PRO-M with VIA P4M800PRO chipset supporting Intel® Pentium® 4/Pentium® D processors are all RoHS compliant. Socket 754 support for the AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor includes the new C51G-M754 with the NVIDIA C51G chipset.
