OCWorkbench.com has highly recommended the 755-A2 motherboard for the AMD Athlon 64 CPU from Elitegroup Computer System Co., LTD, the innovative IT technology solutions provider dedicated to driving the new PC era, as the entry board to 64-bit computing.
"As we know, ECS is well known for its good cost/performance ratio," OCWorkbench stated. "ECS 755-A2 is definitely the board that most SIS supporters are waiting for. From our few days of working with the 755-A2, I personally feel that the board would be the next K7S5A or L7S7A2. Apart from the standard IDE connectors, this board supports SATA RAID 0 or 1 with 2 SATA HDDs."
An eight-page OCWorkbench review dated January 20 awards the SiS755-based board 10 of a possible 10 points for performance.
"ECS 755-A2 is a good performer," OCWorkbench concluded. "In our tests, we have seen for ourselves that the performance level is on par or slightly better than the SiS 755 Reference board."
Installation and documentation also earned praise.
"Installation of this board," the reviewer stated, "is straightforward as it is all well documented on board or in the manual."
The site took note of ECS color-coding as a reward to less experienced users.
"The color coded front panel is definitely a good one for users who are not sure which pins which connector goes to," OCWorkbench stated.
The site also noted the ECS board's features including six-channel audio, USB 2.0 and SATA RAID 0/1 in making the recommendation.
Established in June 1998, OCWorkbench has rapidly become a favored site for both professionals and hobbyists involved with PC technical matters. Often called the 'king of the motherboard,' ECS has won a reputation among technically savvy users for products that combine power and value.
