ECS Introduces the i-Buddie 4: The World's first Pentium 4 Notebook-Style PC

Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) is pleased to introduce the i-Buddie 4, the world's first notebook-style PC for Pentium 4 processors. The i-Buddie 4 delivers power-packed performance and the conveniences of a notebook PC, all for a very competitive price. It is part of the DeskNote computer line from ECS that offers the same features, top-notch performance and speed as a regular desktop, yet is as compact and portable as a notebook.

The i-Buddie 4 takes Intel Pentium 4 Socket 478 processors from 1.4GHz to 2.8GHz, including the latest 'Northwood' CPUs, and comes with the SiS 650/961 chipset. Equipped with one DDR DIMM socket for 1GB of DDR memory, the i-Buddie can easily handle the most power-hungry applications. The Hard Disk Drive supports ATA 33/66/100 and enhanced IDE, and is upgradeable to 40GB. The i-Buddie 4 supports AGP 4X via the SiS 650 chipset that contains a SiS 315 graphics core, while the video memory can be adjusted by the user up to 64MB DDR.

The I/O interface boasts an onboard 'Firewire' IEEE 1394 port, four USB 2.0 ports for faster data transmission, as well as a parallel port and CTR connector. Audio is supported by two high quality stereo speakers for crystal-clear sound. The unit also comes with an external VGA port, an S-Video TV-out port, Ethernet and modem ports, a headphone jack and MIC-in jack. There is also on-board 10/100 Base-T LAN networking and a 56K V.90 modem supported by a mini-PCI modem card, so that web surfing and e-mail retrieval can be done anywhere and at any time.

The i-Buddie 4 has a 15" TFT-LCD screen with outstanding clarity and maximum resolution of 1024 x 768. The i-Buddie 4 is compliant with Windows XP, Win2000, WinME and Win98 SE operating systems. The i-Buddie 4 weighs 3.2kg, and measures 33.2cm x 28.0cm x 3.9/4.4cm. A number of options are available: For power, there is the option of an external Li-Ion battery. Wholesale customers also have the option of choosing CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or Combo Drive (DVD-ROM and CD-RW).
