AMD and ATI merger drive global branding for existing chipset product lines
Taipei, Taiwan, December 11, 2006 – Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), the world's leading motherboard, barebone system and notebook manufacturer, has updated its model and chipset naming for several motherboards. This naming reflects the recent AMD and ATI merger into one powerhouse and the ongoing branding effort. The naming includes ECS AMD480XM-A, RD480-A939 and KA3 MVP motherboards and their respective chipsets. The affected products remain identical in functionality to previous versions. A summary of the naming is shown below.
▪ The ATI RD480 chipset name (previously used in the RD480-A939) has been changed to AMD 480X CrossFire™ Chipset.
▪ ECS will launch the AMD480XM-A motherboard based on the AMD 480X CrossFire™ Chipset.
▪ The RD580 chipset name (used in the KA3 MVP) has been changed to AMD 580X CrossFire™ Chipset. The ECS KA3 MVP motherboard will keep the same model name, but use the new AMD 580X CrossFire™ Chipset.
ECS will join AMD in an event officially launching these new chipset products and motherboards. The KA3 MVP socket AM2 motherboard with AMD 580X CrossFire™ Chipset is a performance leader perfect for gamers and enthusiasts wanting the highest performance 3D graphics and excellent stability when overclocking. The AMD480XM-A is an AM2 and AMD 480X CrossFire™ Chipset motherboard aimed at mainstream customers wanting high display performance, HD audio, outstanding connectivity and strong storage support.
The KA3 MVP and AMD480XM-A motherboards are available now in all ECS sales channels.
